Microscopic fibre

This link is to a post in Portuguese, however if you look at the title of each section it's not hard to determine what it is.. Vegitata? he he

I find this really interesting and want to check it out further, hence posting it here for future reference, and for anyone that likes to know "how, what, where and when".. lol Hey isn't being "here" what it's all about, learning? :)
As usual, just click on the picture to be taken to the blog :)

PS: this is Nylon, neat huh? And now knowing what it looks like you have an idea of what project it would be good for :)

Tapestry bag

Just a quickie.
When I was on the quest to make a kitty bag for the kitties to sleep in, I made a bag that was similar in shape to the "green" shopping bags. Because I thought the kitties would for sure use It, seeing that they can't jump into them fast enough, when I get home from shopping.
Well they didn't, but I kept it, trying to figure out what to do with it so it wasn't wasted.

Well I found my solution!
See, I don't like leaving anything around that the kitties could play with that would strangle, choke or get tied up in their intestines. That is why all my threads, wool, string, little bits and pieces are all put away safely.

The only huge plastic bag I used to keep my tapestry in was falling to bits, so I thought I would make a more permanent one, but it had to be no handles (kitties can play in handles and get strangled by them).

I thought.. hrrm, lemme see if there is enough material in the kittie bed I kept, and sure enough, it fit without any modifications. All I did was add a drawstring, so I can close it up tight so little naughty kitties can't get into it.

Also, as an added find, it is great for when actually doing the tapestry, as you can hold it with the bag still on, that way you are holding the material of the bag, and not getting your hands on the actual canvas. cool eh?!

Anyway, no instructions as REALLY straight forward. Just a couple of pictures :)

The bag, that is now my tapestry bag. Note how tightly it fits, that way I can hold it via the bag while I am working on it,so I don't have to touch it as often. Also note kitty boy working how he is going to beat it.

" I can has insides please momma?"
he he there is a whole series of pictures I took of my little man trying to get into it, he was trying for about 10-15 Min's, and this is why I have to keep things kitty safe! I just thought this was the sweetest.
I guess, you have to baby proof homes don't you, kitty proofing is crazier as kitties can jump! babies can't lol

Nefertiti Tapestry / Needle point finished yay!

Just a quick show and tell. I still need it framed but at least it is done.
I have been hanging out with my hubby every chance I can, so while he is doing his thing on the computer I have been doing my tapestry, it's mobile! :)

And for the obligatory cuteness shot!

"whatcha doing momma?"

Tapestry from July 2008

As the title says this is back from my old blog from July 2008.
LOL do you know I still have not finished the 2nd Egyptian tapestry nor have I done anything else with them yet.
Hey.. what can I say, I get bored with the same thing for too long hehe

I haven't posted a lot of things to do with craft latley because I simply haven't been doing anything that is quick. But something I have done since I was a little girl was tapestry.
My Aunt used to do it and had huge lovely framed tapestries on her walls which she had done and I just used to stare at amazement, gorgeous!
Anyway I stayed with my Aunty once when my mum had to go overseas and mum bought me a tapestry to do with her.
Well it did take me 20 years to finish it, on and off and I don't even know wether I do it right, I don't care really because it still comes out as it should,.. I actually finished it when I had my appendix out and couldn't move around much so I used to sit and do tapestry all day and night and got a "thing" for it.. I looked like a little old lady I am sure!! hehe

So anyway long story short, I have little seasons where I love to get back into it then put it away for a few months again, so I am almost finished my last one and I guess just want it to be done with so I can finish the one I bought my mum which is half done.
Here are the pics :)

My very first tapestry mum bought me when I went to stay with my Aunty.

All I have left to finish off the one I am currently working on, as you can see it's so close it's hard to put down!!! arrrrrggghhh

OOOOOHHH I forgot about the title until I was about to post this.. one fabulous thing about tapestry is that you get a complete upper arm workout.. yeah!!! work those chicken wings booyah! :)

My First Embroidery LOL FAIL

I love peacocks! I love all animals but peacocks you can portray with lots of pretty colors and as you can probably tell by now I love colors!

I saw this in a magazine and thought what better way to start than to start learning with something pretty!
This is what it should have looked like.

This is how it turned out.
The tailors chalk and tailors pencil didn't work on the towel I chose, so I had to use texta.

And I don't know if maybe I rushed it or what but I have no idea how you see peoples all together nice and neat like out of a sewing machine, I guess that comes with practice too, not to mention that if I had read how to actually do stitches that probably would have helped also.
Oh well nothing like starting out ;)

Hope it gives some of you your giggle for the day! Oh yes I can see the coffee spilling down your chin because you couldn't hold your giggles in when you saw how bad it is ;)

This is back from July 2008.. ever so slowly I am transferring all the stuff from my old blog :)
