Dual purpose paper towel holder come pasta dryer
This blog post was back from June 2008, and I still use this little gadget I made all the time. Just perfect!
Original post:
I make a lot of my pasta home made, because you just can't beat it. Doesn't mean that on lazy days I don't use the packaged stuff, but we do prefer everything homemade.. Yay for pasta machines!!
So I kept having a major pain in the butt, there wasn't enough places to hang the pasta I had made till I finished. I looked online for pasta dryers, pasta hangers etc, and only found 2 or 3 available for purchase. Some people suggested hanging it over broom handles, chairs and all these other germy non-food related areas.
So I had a plan in mind to make myself one, just a basic two sides of wood and some dowl connecting them with which to hang the pasta.
Well while shopping in a two dollar store one day I saw a plain unfinished paper towel holder, I guess folk painters use them to paint on etc, well it was only like $2, and I thought "If it doesn't work it's nothing lost", so I bought it home.
I took it into the garage and drilled some intermittent holes around it so the pasta hanging would have it's "own room" and then painted it.
I really like the Oaxacan style, and I know that my hold all is nothing like it, but I tried.. why I call the Link crafty wannabe. Either way it is still bright and colourful and goes with my hanging fake chilli vine and it can be used for two things!!
When it is not holding my paper towels it has it's stick (which I keep together in an elastic band in a kitchen drawer) in it and holds my Pasta.
